FloraSense – Terms of Service

Last updated: July 29, 2026  Â·  Version 1.0
Developer: Saleem Khan  Â·  https://florasense.websaleem.com

By using FloraSense you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the service.

âš  Identification is not advice

FloraSense is a machine learning demonstration and is wrong roughly one time in seven. It recognises only the 102 flower categories it was trained on — anything outside that set will still be matched to one of them, confidently and incorrectly. Never use it to decide whether a plant is safe to eat, touch, or give to a person or animal.

1. What FloraSense Is

FloraSense is a free, non-commercial demonstration of an image classification model, built as part of an AI programming course project. It accepts a photograph and returns the five flower categories the model scores highest, with confidence values.

2. No Warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. Predictions may be wrong, and confidence scores are a property of the model rather than a measure of real-world certainty.

3. Not Professional Advice

FloraSense must not be relied on for:

Consult a qualified botanist, your local herbarium, or the relevant poisons information service instead. In an emergency, contact your local emergency number.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

The service runs on metered infrastructure paid for personally, and may be rate limited, changed, or withdrawn at any time without notice.

5. Your Content

You keep all rights to the images you upload. No licence over them is claimed or required, because they are not retained: each image is deleted immediately after classification, as described in the Privacy Policy. Uploaded images are never used to train or improve any model.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, FloraSense — including any loss, injury, illness, or harm resulting from reliance on an identification it produced.

Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including certain guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law.

7. Availability

FloraSense is a personal project with no uptime commitment. It may be unavailable, slow, or permanently discontinued at any time.

8. Third-Party Services

FloraSense runs on Amazon Web Services and loads an icon font from cdnjs. Your use of the site is also subject to those providers' terms. See the Privacy Policy for what this means for your data.

9. Changes

These terms may be updated; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

11. Contact

Questions can be sent through Contact Support, or raised at github.com/websaleem/FloraSense/issues.
